After the much-anticipated boxing showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather has been signed off due to some drug testing protocol disagreements, Mayweather will still step on the ring on a title bout with three-time division champion Shane Mosley on May 1st at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This main event will definitely be a historical one as these two great fighters meet again on the ring, and this time with an even playing field. And Mayweather who has been accused of ducking top welterweight fighters in the past should prove himself this time with a much tougher opponent.
According to Mayweather’s adviser Leonard Ellerbe on ESPN:
Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have agreed to terms for a welterweight super fight. Although the contracts are not signed, “all of the deal points have been agreed to,” Ellerbe said. “We still have to put pen to paper, but everything is agreed to. It’s with the lawyers. Shane is a great fighter, one of the best of his era, and so is Floyd. It’s going to be a great fight. It’s a fight fans have wanted to see for a long time.”
I hope this fight will really push through since boxing fans from around the world were totally dismayed by the outcome of the supposed fight of the century between pound-for-pound king Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao against Floyd ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather. Now that both camps agreeing with the terms of the fight, I just wish we could see another boxing event soon.
